Favorite Football terms

Here I'll talk about some of my favorite terms from football.

Pace - Pace is a term that has two meanings. One is for the speed in which a ball travels when kicked and the other is how fast a player is.

Asking Questions - This is probably my favorite term of them all. This is when an attacking team is continually putting pressure on the defending team, especially used when talking about a team that is taking alot of shots on goal.

One Way Traffic - This is a term that means when one team is dominating possession of the ball and is basically controllling the game.

Champion's League

This entry is going to talk about the UEFA Champions League. It is a yearly club competition that pits the best teams in Europe against each other to vy for the European Cup. This year the final will be in Moscow and a team that could surprise people and play in that final is CSKA Moscow. They have a strong defense and playing in Moscow in winter may be the greatest homefield advatnage of them all.

Another team that could challenge for the title is Real Madrid. The Galacticos are shooting for their record 12th title and with basically half the Dutch national team, strikers like Ruud van Nisteltrooy and Raul, and one of the best goalies in the world in Iker Casillas, this could be the year that Real tastes European gold again. English Football

The Barclays Premier League has been exciting so far this season. Arsenal, who has been struggling in 3rd or 4th place the past two years has really been the class of the field so far this season. So far, they have taken 16 out of a possible 18 points and lead 2nd place Manchester United by 2 points with a game in hand. Now these are still early days, Arsene Wenger has really got his young men playing extremely well.

My favorite team, Manchester City, has had a real good start and are currently, sitting in 3rd place. New boss Sven Goren Eriksson, so far, has shown that his tenuous tenure as England National Team manager might not have been totally his fault. Tomorrow I'll talk about some of the teams that are currently struggling in the BPL, also later this week, I'll talk about other leagues and the Beckham phenomenon.

Hello, this is my first post on the CPSC 104 blog, I have another blog for personal talk, but this one is for class, my next entry will be talking about my subject for this blog which I have not thought of yet but will by the time I'm ready to post again which will be soon.
